The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has issued a warning on Thursday regarding the likelihood of moderate to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and hailstorms in various regions of the province.
In a statement, the PDMA referenced the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which indicated the possibility of moderate to heavy rain, along with thunderstorms and strong winds (with potential snowfall in mountainous areas), affecting Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, and Kasur from February 17 to 21.
Furthermore, the PDMA highlighted expectations of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in Multan, Bhakkar, Kot Addu, Layyah, Rajanpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan between February 18 and 19.

The PDMA has instructed the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) to ensure preparedness and undertake necessary measures. Additionally, they have advised rescue officials and relevant authorities to maintain a high level of alertness and ensure sufficient emergency response personnel and equipment are available during the forecasted period.
Moreover, travelers have been cautioned about potential flooding and landslides and are urged to seek guidance and assistance from local administration, police, and rescue services in case of emergencies.
Simultaneously, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecasted moderate to heavy rains in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Islamabad, and Balochistan.
The NDMA stated that heavy rain or snowfall might lead to road closures in areas like Murree, Galiyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli from February 18th to 20th. The possibility of landslides in Upper KP, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan during this period cannot be discounted.
