ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced its decision to embark on a significant tree plantation campaign along the Islamabad Expressway. Following the completion of the expansion work, a total of 50,000 trees will grace both sides of the expressway, transforming it into a green corridor.

According to a media report, the CDA intends to plant 25,000 trees during the upcoming monsoon season, while an additional 25,000 trees are scheduled for planting in the spring tree plantation campaign next year. The initiative aims to restore the lush greenery that has been impacted by the ongoing construction work for a signal-free corridor along the expressway.

A recent survey conducted by the environment wing of the civic agency has shed light on the urgent need for a large-scale tree plantation campaign along the Islamabad Expressway. Sadly, a considerable number of mature trees had to be felled during the construction process, and due to technical challenges, relocating them was not possible.

In response to this environmental concern, the CDA has devised a comprehensive plan to launch a substantial tree plantation campaign. The endeavor seeks to revitalize the natural beauty of the Islamabad Expressway and mitigate the ecological impact caused by the construction activities.

Recognizing the significance of this initiative, the climate change ministry has approached the civic agency, pledging its full cooperation in conducting tree plantation campaigns along the highways, including the Islamabad Expressway. This collaborative effort aims to maximize the positive environmental impact and promote sustainability.

As the CDA sets its sights on transforming the expressway into a verdant paradise, it demonstrates a proactive approach toward environmental conservation and emphasizes the importance of preserving green spaces in urban landscapes.
