LAHORE: The Department of Transport Punjab and Mass Transit Authority has announced an increase in fares for the Orange Line Metro Train and Metro Bus services, effective immediately. This decision will likely have an impact on daily commutes for many residents of Lahore and Multan.

Specific Fare Changes:

  • Orange Line Train:
    • Minimum fare increased from Rs. 20 to Rs. 25.
    • Maximum fare increased from Rs. 40 to Rs. 45.
  • Metro Bus Service (Lahore and Multan):
    • Minimum fare increased from Rs. 20 to Rs. 25.

Public Reaction:

While the official notification cites rising operational costs as the reason for the increase, the decision has received mixed reactions from the public. Some commuters express concern about the additional financial burden, especially with ongoing economic challenges. Others acknowledge the need for sustainable funding for these public transportation services.

Further Information:

The official notification issued by the Punjab Transport Department provides further details on the fare changes and any exceptions or concessions that may apply. Passengers are encouraged to consult the Punjab Mass Transit Authority website or contact their local station for more information.
