ISLAMABAD: The government took action on Thursday to temporarily halt mobile phone services to “safeguard public order” during the ongoing nationwide general elections.
A spokesperson from the Interior Ministry stated, “The decision has been made to suspend mobile services temporarily throughout the country.”
The spokesperson emphasized the importance of security measures in light of recent militant attacks in Pakistan, stating that these measures are necessary to uphold law and order and address potential threats.

Reportedly, journalists from private media outlets in Islamabad experienced difficulties accessing mobile internet services as polls began at 8:00 am. Additionally, there were complaints of limited access in Karachi.
Ahead of the general elections, twin bomb explosions occurred outside candidates’ offices in Balochistan, resulting in the loss of at least 28 lives.
