ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared the timetable for the presidential elections on Friday.
According to the schedule, the deadline for submitting nomination papers is noon on March 2nd.
Nomination papers will undergo scrutiny by the Returning Officer on March 4 at 10 am, and the final list of candidates will be revealed on March 5 at 1 pm.
“Polling for the presidential election is scheduled for March 9, between 10 am and 4 pm, with voting to take place at the Parliament House and the four provincial assemblies,” stated the election schedule.
The six-party unity government, poised to establish a coalition government at the Centre under the PML-N’s Shehbaz Sharif, has already designated Asif Ali Zardari as its consensual candidate for the nation’s highest constitutional position. Asif Ali Zardari formerly held the presidency from September 2008 to 2013 following the resignation of military ruler Pervez Musharraf.
