ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved over Rs19 billion worth of education projects to establish new Daanish Schools in underdeveloped regions of the country.
According to an official statement, the approval of six education-related projects, worth a total of Rs19.25 billion, is said to be in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision. The federal and provincial governments will share the funding equally, with each contributing 50 percent.
The new Daanish Schools will be set up in districts such as Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Musakhel, and Dera Bugti. The approval came during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal.
Speaking at the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal said that quality education is a key part of the Prime Minister’s development agenda. He noted that these schools will help bring educational progress to backward areas and will include residential facilities for teachers along with modern infrastructure.

He appreciated the Government of Balochistan for agreeing to bear half of the costs and added that Daanish Schools would also promote digital education, entrepreneurship, and national unity.
Ahsan Iqbal stressed that with 25 million children currently out of school in Pakistan, raising the literacy rate is a national priority. He urged other provinces to adopt the Daanish School model and confirmed the federal government’s commitment to funding half of the project.
