ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has intensified efforts to stop illegal cattle markets in the city. Officials have cleared roadside animal sale points in Koral and G-12 and have arrested several sellers operating without permission.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon had earlier announced that only six official cattle markets will be allowed to operate from 1st to 13th Zilhajj. These markets are located in Sangjhani, Sector I-15, Bharakahu, Lehtrar Road, Islamabad Expressway, and Sector I-12. Each market has basic facilities like water, electricity, sanitation, and veterinary teams to check the animals’ health.
The administration recently issued a notification increasing the number of official markets from five to six and appointed focal persons at each site to manage operations and address public concerns.
Officials said the main goal is to regulate animal trading, reduce traffic problems, and stop the spread of disease caused by illegal sales in residential areas.

Strict action is being taken against those breaking the rules. Illegal markets not only disturb citizens but also cause hygiene and safety issues. Special monitoring teams, working with the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), ICT Police, and health departments, are carrying out raids and inspections.
People are urged to buy animals only from the approved markets and report illegal sales through the administration’s helpline. Authorities warned that selling animals before the allowed dates or outside the designated markets is illegal and will result in arrests and fines.
