ISLAMABAD: The Federal Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has decided to hold the 6th Vice Chancellors Forum in Rabat, Morocco, according to a private newspaper report. This decision is expected to involve significant costs.
The report states that Pakistan has 260 universities, with about 155 being government-funded. The estimated cost for tickets, accommodation, and food for each participant is between Rs70,000 and Rs100,000.
HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed wrote a letter to Dr. Saleem M. Al-Malik, Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), thanking him for his support in organizing the forum, which was initially planned for Islamabad, Pakistan, on May 12-13, 2025.
In the letter, Dr. Ahmed acknowledged concerns about the security situation in Pakistan and agreed that the safety of participants is a priority.

He supported ICESCO’s suggestion to move the forum to ICESCO Headquarters in Rabat, Morocco, and agreed to the new dates of June 23-25, 2025. He noted that this change would help maintain the forum’s goals while ensuring a safe environment for all attendees.
The letter also mentioned that the HEC planned to announce the ILM Bank Scholarships for the Muslim World during the forum.
This program aims to provide educational opportunities across ICESCO member states. Dr. Ahmed requested ICESCO’s help in gaining support for the scholarships and proposed that ILM Bank could promote research, academic exchanges, and training programs. He suggested that ICESCO and HEC create a digital platform to support ILM Bank’s initiatives.

The HEC expressed its commitment to working with ICESCO to organize the event and make necessary arrangements for the program and logistics.
On the other hand, After the transfer policy was amended in 2024, now female teachers can request transfers anytime after marriage. They can apply for transfer requests one year after marriage.
Transfers for married female teachers will be prioritized based on hardship grounds. All transfers based on hardship will continue throughout the year through the SEED portal.
Transfer requests based on open merit will not be accepted during the transfer process. For transfers after marriage, it is necessary to provide a marriage certificate, husband’s ID card, and proof of residence. Approval from the relevant CEO and NOC is also necessary for inter-district transfers.
