LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced another great project for public convenience, the work on which has already begun.
According to the details, it has been decided to launch the first e-taxi service in Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has assigned the task of initiating an e-taxi service across the province to Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan, based on the model of China’s Taxi Service.
A seminar was organized at the Transport House under the chairmanship of Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan for suggestions and consultations on the e-taxi service. Various government departments, electric vehicle manufacturing companies, transporters, and stakeholders participated in the seminar.
The report states that Secretary Transport and Mass Transit Ahmed Javed Qazi informed the participants about the basic aspects of the scheme, and the participants were provided with an opportunity for open discussion on all aspects of the e-taxi project.
The seminar addressed the types, prices, service, and technical issues of electric vehicles for e-taxis. Various suggestions were made regarding charging stations, battery quality, and the easy supply of spare parts for e-taxis and other electric vehicles in Punjab.
The Dewan Group and the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) also expressed interest in this project.

Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan stated that, as per the Chief Minister’s announcement, an e-taxi scheme is being launched for unemployed individuals. The purpose of organizing the seminar is to address any reservations.
The Punjab Transport Minister further explained that the e-taxi scheme aims to provide vehicles that are relatively affordable but of the best quality. The e-taxi scheme will reduce unemployment and offer affordable travel options to the public.
