ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly constructed Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass, completed in just 35 days, and described it as an important project that improves travel to the tourist destination of Murree.
As per the details, the prime minister thanked Interior Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and his team, including Chairman Capital Development Authority Muhammad Ali Randhawa, IG Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, and others, for their hard work in completing the project successfully.
The Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass, finished in 35 days, is an important step in improving the country’s infrastructure. The underpass is part of a signal-free corridor plan to reduce traffic from Islamabad Airport to Murree. It is about 479 meters long with three lanes, making travel faster and easier.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said the nearly 9-kilometer road will help people in Rawalpindi and Islamabad and improve travel to Murree for the whole country.
He noted that Senator Mohsin Naqvi mentioned that the project, which includes the underpass, roads, and landscaping, started just 35 days ago when the prime minister laid its foundation stone.
He congratulated the interior minister, the project contractor, consultant, IG Islamabad Police, and others. He also asked the interior minister to keep working on fast development projects like this in the future.

The prime minister also celebrated the success of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, saying they defeated the enemy with smart planning and bravery.
He said this victory was possible because of the nation’s unity and the blessings of Almighty Allah. He added that the enemy would always remember this moment in Pakistan’s history.
Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi gave details about the project to the prime minister. He thanked the team, including the Chairman Capital Development Authority, Islamabad Police, NESPAK, and others, for their work.
He also shared that the design for the Shaheen Chowk Underpass is in progress, and plans for a Safari Park and Chairlift are being made. The event was attended by Federal Ministers Hanif Abbasi, Dr. Tariq Fazl Chaudhary, Ministers of State Talal Chaudhary, Talha Burki, and other parliamentarians.
In other news, Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada announced that Islamabad will soon have its first seven-star hotel on Srinagar Highway, with construction possibly starting by the end of the year.
The hotel will be built through a public-private partnership, the minister said. A modern hospital will also be built nearby under the same model.

The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has approved the hotel and hospital projects in Sector G-13 of Islamabad, near the Srinagar Highway Link Road to the new international airport.
These projects will be developed through public-private partnerships and an open auction.
The FGEHA has also selected 11 more sites for development under the public-private partnership model. These include plots for an IT tower, an international office hub in G-13, a shopping mall in the Skyline Project, an international school in G-14/2, and residential-commercial projects in Rawalpindi and Murree.
