LAHORE – The Lahore High Court has ordered the installation of water recycling plants at all service stations ( car wash stations) across Punjab. The court also directed all Deputy Commissioners in the province to ensure immediate implementation of this order.
Justice Shahid Karim gave the order while hearing petitions related to smog control. During the hearing, a report was presented about the water treatment plant in Kasur district.
The court expressed serious concern over the closure of the Kasur water treatment plant. Justice Karim said that the dirty water in Kasur is causing serious health problems. “Children being born there are already suffering from diseases due to unsafe water,” the judge said. The court stressed that the treatment plant must be restored soon to provide clean water.
In the same hearing, the court was informed that the Central Business District (CBD) has built a water tank to store rainwater. This water will be used to clean roads and water plants. The court appreciated this effort and called it a positive step.
