ISLAMABAD: Islamabad will soon have a new public library in F-9 Park with digital facilities, a children’s play area, and research labs. The decision was finalized in a meeting led by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Thursday.
As per the report, the library will meet international standards and include an e-library, digital indexing, co-working spaces, and a social area. It will have over 500,000 books and conference halls for events.
Randhawa emphasized that the design should follow global standards and include modern amenities to ensure visitor comfort. He also said officials to connect the library digitally with national and international libraries.
In meeting also covered plans to improve F-9 Park by upgrading the nursery and developing a theme park, safari park, and golf club to promote tourism, the library will offer membership options and aims to be a major cultural and educational center for the city.
The meeting was the 75th session of the CDA Development Working Party, chaired by Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who also serves as Chief Commissioner and DG Civil Defence.

The meeting approved steps to enhance Islamabad’s tourism and recreational facilities. These include hiring consultants to conduct feasibility studies and create detailed designs for a modern theme park, an international-standard Ferris wheel, and a cable car system with scenic views of Islamabad. Approval was granted for these studies under PC-II.
The feasibility studies are expected to be completed within six months, after which transaction advisors will be appointed to ensure the projects are finished on time. Randhawa highlighted the goal of making Islamabad a leading tourist destination.
These initiatives reflect the CDA’s focus on providing quality entertainment while addressing essential civic needs. Once the studies are done, transaction advisors will manage the implementation to meet international standards.
