RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that India carried out another act of aggression late on the night between May 7 and 8, 2025.
Pakistan’s armed forces intercepted and shot down all 25 Indian Heron drones. In Lahore, a drone attack injured four soldiers, while in Mianwali, one civilian was killed and another was wounded.
During a media briefing, the spokesperson for the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that India violated Pakistan’s airspace once again the previous night. All 25 drones sent by India into different cities were successfully shot down.
The military spokesperson confirmed that Indian drones were downed near Lahore, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Attock, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Chhor, and Karachi. Debris from the drones is still being collected.
He added that, unfortunately, one drone in Lahore managed to target a military installation, injuring four soldiers and causing partial damage to equipment. In Mianwali, Sindh, drone activity resulted in the death of one civilian and injuries to another.
The spokesperson recalled that on the night of May 6 and 7, India had attacked Pakistan, targeting innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, as well as mosques.
In response, Pakistan’s forces shot down five Indian aircraft and multiple drones, inflicting heavy losses on Indian posts along the Line of Control. He suggested that India now appears to be acting recklessly.
The military spokesperson described India’s latest aggression as highly provocative and said Pakistan’s forces had given a strong response. He noted that India continues to send Heron drones into Pakistan, but the country’s forces are intercepting and destroying them one by one.

He stated that Pakistan is fully capable of handling any aggression and will teach a lesson to those who violate its sovereignty. He emphasized that India will continue to pay the price for its aggressive actions.

Meanwhile, airspace over Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Sialkot has been temporarily closed. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued regarding the airspace restrictions.
As per the media reports, In Rawalpindi, a city near Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, a drone crashed on Food Street. According to reports, the crash caused a fire, and law enforcement officials have sealed off the area.
In Gujranwala, local police reported that a drone was shot down in the Tokrian area under Wahndo police station. Debris from the drone was found in nearby fields.
In Bahawalpur, a city in southern Punjab, an Indian drone also crashed. Eyewitnesses said a loud explosion occurred at Khoo Chapo Wala, and the drone’s debris spread over two acres.
According to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), flight operations at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Sialkot airports have been suspended temporarily. These airports will remain closed until 6 PM on Thursday.
PCAA spokesperson Saifullah Khan advised passengers to stay in contact with their airlines for updates. The authority has issued a NOTAM regarding the decision.

A spokesperson for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) said that due to the current security situation, flight operations in Pakistan are being affected. Some routes have been restricted as a precautionary measure, impacting flights in the sector.
The PIA spokesperson stated that the temporary route closures are for the safety of passengers and airline assets. Passengers were requested to cooperate with airline staff and understand the sensitivity of the situation.
PIA’s call center is assisting passengers with updated information. The airline is also taking care of diverted flight passengers, including arranging their accommodation and meals.
It may be noted that the PCAA had earlier issued a NOTAM announcing the reopening of most air routes across the country, though a few were expected to remain closed for the next 24 hours.
