ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has approved a plan to upgrade the 790-kilometer Karachi-Chaman National Highway (N-25) into an expressway. This change will reduce travel time from 18 hours to 6 hours.

According to the details, during a meeting to review the progress of the N-25’s construction and upgrade, the prime minister described the project as important for Balochistan’s social and economic development.

“The upgrade of the Karachi-Chaman National Highway is a key project for Balochistan’s growth,” PM Shehbaz said.

He explained that the government chose to use recent savings from lower petroleum prices to fund the expressway project instead of passing those savings directly to the public.

“All provinces agreed with the federal government’s decision, showing national unity and support for Balochistan’s development,” he said.

The prime minister noted that the completed project will make travel between Karachi and Chaman faster, reducing the journey from 18 hours to 6 hours.

“This will improve trade, transport, and convenience for people along the route,” he added.

At the meeting, clear instructions were given to ensure high-quality construction and to complete the project within two years. The meeting was informed that the expressway will have four lanes and be a dual carriageway.
