ISLAMABAD: The announcement of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Media Director Aalia Rasheed’s resignation from her position was made on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Aalia Rasheed, appointed during the tenure of PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf, reportedly faced significant pressure following her release of a statement regarding the captaincy without consulting Shaheen Shah Afridi.
In her stead, Sami Ul Hasan Sami Burney has been reappointed as the PCB media director. Burney previously served as the Head of Department for Media at the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Following a unanimous recommendation from the PCB’s selection committee, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi has appointed Babar Azam as the captain for white-ball cricket (ODI and T20I) for the Pakistan men’s cricket team.
Babar Azam takes over the T20 captaincy from Shaheen Shah Afridi. Additionally, after a five-month hiatus, Babar Azam reassumes the role of ODI skipper. He had previously been removed as ODI captain following Pakistan’s defeat in the 2023 World Cup.
