Violent Protests Force Postponement of PMS Exams in Punjab

LAHORE: The Provincial Management Service (PMS) exams, originally scheduled for May 16 in Punjab, have been postponed following widespread violent protests against the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, announced the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) on Friday.

Postponement Decision Made Due to Prevailing Situation

Citing the current situation prevailing in the province, a spokesperson of the PPSC stated that the decision to postpone the exams had been made. The official further added that a new date for the PMS exam would be announced at a later time.

As the violence escalated, resulting in the loss of lives of at least four individuals and leaving several others injured, provincial authorities had previously taken the decision to temporarily close down educational institutions.

Unrest Creates Law and Order Uncertainty

The province witnessed growing uncertainty regarding the maintenance of law and order as protesters breached the high-security zone, causing extensive damage and vandalism to public and private property.

Schools Remain Closed as a Precautionary Measure

A notification released by the Punjab School Education Department on May 10 had declared the closure of all public and private schools for the subsequent two days, May 11 and May 12.
