Sindh govt to hold matric exams 2025 after Ramadan, Eid

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to change the schedule for the 2025 matric exams. Exams originally planned for March will now be held after Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. The final decision will be made in a meeting of the education department.

According to a private tv channel report, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah has called an important meeting of the education department’s executive committee. During the meeting, the decision to change the exam dates across the province is expected.

Matric exams in Sindh were initially scheduled for March. Meanwhile, Minister Sardar Shah has announced an extension in the hiring process for IBA test-passed teachers.

Sardar Shah also suggested that only practical exams be held in March, while the remaining exams could be conducted after Eid-ul-Fitr. This proposal is still under consideration.

According to the latest information, the annual practical exams for Matric 2025 in Sindh will start on March 10, while the theory exams will begin on April 7 due to Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

This decision was made in a meeting of the Education Department Steering Committee, chaired by Provincial Education Minister Sardar Shah.

The meeting also decided that the annual theory exams for Intermediate (11th and 12th grades) 2025 will start on April 28, with practical exams following afterward. It was further agreed that the new academic year will begin on April 7.

In other news, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has postponed annual matric and intermediate exams due to Ramadan. The provincial government has instructed all educational boards to delay the exams until after Ramadan, with new dates set for April.



A spokesperson for the Peshawar Board said the exams will now be held after Ramadan. The decision aims to provide convenience to students during the holy month.

Federal Board Announces Exam Schedule

On the other hand, the Federal Board has announced the schedule for its annual matric exams. Exams will begin on March 18, with a break from March 28 to April 3 for Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. The first exam after Eid will be held on April 4, while practical exams will start from April 28.

The Federal Board has also imposed a ban on mobile phones and smartwatches at exam centers.

Punjab’s Matric Exam Schedule

In Punjab, the annual matric exams will start on March 4, 2025. According to the date sheet, the first exam for Group 1 will be Arabic, while Group 2 will take the History exam.

Sindh govt announces Oxford University Scholarships for intelligent, needy students

On March 5, both groups will take the compulsory English paper. Economics, Health, and Physical Education exams are scheduled for March 6. On March 7, both groups will take Biology and Computer Science exams.

It is worth noting that last year in May, matric exams in Sindh’s capital Karachi were postponed due to extreme heat and a heatwave.

Meanwhile, The Government of Sindh has announced to provide Oxford University scholarships to 6 intelligent and needy students, as per the private tv channel report.

As per the report, a ceremony to sign a memorandum of understanding for the Bhutto Scholarship Program was held in London, in which Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah participated.

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah, while talking to a private TV channel, said that 3 scholarships will be for male and 3 female students.

The Oxford Pakistan Program will help us in selecting the students. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that scholarships have been given to students in Sindh for some time.

In addition, Murad Ali Shah said that Karachi is a city with a population of more than 20 million and there is a crime problem. They are trying to improve Karachi under the Safe City Program.
