ISLAMABAD: Federal government employees are holding a protest in Islamabad, and their demands have been made public.
According to a private TV channel report, the protesters are demanding an end to pay disparities among federal employees. They want all federal employees to be upgraded with benefits, similar to provincial employees. They also want the government to reverse the leave encashment policy and pension reforms for federal employees.
Additionally, the protesters are calling for the withdrawal of taxes imposed on salaries in the 2024-25 budget. They also want job security for employees during the privatization of government institutions.

The protesters further demand better reforms instead of closing or privatizing schools and institutions. They want jobs for the children of employees who die during service, as per court orders.
They are also urging the government to immediately withdraw what they call “unjust” pension reforms.
During the protest, employees tried to block traffic, leading to arrests by the police. Senior police officials, including SSP Security Sarfaraz Virk and SSP Investigation Arslan Shah Zaib, arrived at the scene.
The protesters said they will continue their sit-in until their demands are met. They urged the government to care for the children of government employees and reduce expenses to ease their burden.
