RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced scholarships for students of Al-Qadir University.
Speaking at the Talented Scholarship Program ceremony at the University of Okara, she congratulated the scholarship recipients and their parents. “I am deeply happy for the students and their families who received scholarships,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz shared her pride in Punjab’s talented students and called Okara a city close to her and Nawaz Sharif’s hearts. She emphasized that all individuals are equal.
She said she feels more joy in students’ achievements than even her own children’s accomplishments. “The bond I share with these students is the most valuable treasure of my life,” she added.
The Chief Minister mentioned that this year’s scholarship ceremony in Dera Ghazi Khan would be held on Monday. She expressed her commitment to meeting students, dedicating January to their activities.
Maryam Nawaz announced the distribution of Core i7 laptops to students without discrimination. She personally selected the laptops, and the first batch has already arrived. Additionally, she promised free e-bikes to students who need them for commuting to schools and colleges.

At the University of Okara, she announced the construction of boarding facilities and an underpass near the university. She also pledged to establish a medical college in Okara this year.
Regarding the Al-Qadir Trust case, she said the court has handed the university to the government. Scholarships will now also be provided to students of Al-Qadir University.
She remarked that corruption was proven in the Al-Qadir Trust case. “The former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, was convicted for corruption and caught red-handed,” she said.
Talking about her own time in prison, Maryam Nawaz shared that she was monitored by cameras in her cell and given only one meal a day. She noted, however, that the former Prime Minister is receiving good food and facilities in jail. “We have no objection, as times change for everyone,” she concluded.
