PMDC halts MBBS, BDS admissions for 2024 amid court orders

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has stopped MBBS and BDS first-year admissions for 2024 in medical and dental colleges across Pakistan.

As per report media, the registrar of PMDC has asked the vice-chancellors of the five universities conducting the MDCAT to publish the test results announced by the PMDC in the context of the orders of the Sindh High Court and the Islamabad High Court.

The 2024 results will not be confirmed, and the admissions process will stay on hold until the next hearing date and until a college begins the admission process based on the results.

Meanwhile, PMDC has set up a four-member team to look into the issue of including questions from outside the syllabus in the MDCAT test by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad. The chairman of the committee will be the vice-chancellor of Shifa-e-Milat University, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Khan.

Major General Muhammad Sohail Amin, principal of Army Medical College, and Dr. Samira Ehsan of PMDC will be members, while one more member may be included in the committee. The committee will submit its report in five days.
