ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to integrate building efficiency codes into its regulations, ensuring these energy-efficient standards are applied to new constructions, existing buildings, and the design phases.
“The decision was taken at a meeting on energy efficiency held at CDA headquarters. The meeting was chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and attended by officers of the Authority, as well as representatives of NEECA and GIZ,” as per media report.
The CDA also decided that its Design Vetting Committee will consider energy efficiency factors in their assessments, following specific recommendations from NEECA and GIZ.
To support this, training sessions for CDA officers will be conducted by experts from NEECA and GIZ to make sure the guidelines are well understood and followed.
In addition, more discussions will be held by the relevant departments to make a plan for creating an energy-efficient community. This includes adding guidelines to the rules and making efficiency rankings based on the city’s climate.
Because of this, it was decided to provide more training for staff to improve energy efficiency and conservation within building limits.
