RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government is fully prepared to offer free travel on key public transport routes for senior citizens, students, and persons with disabilities in major cities, including Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
As per a newspaper report, the provincial government is contemplating providing free travel services on the Orange Line, Metro, and Speedo buses for senior citizens, students, and persons with disabilities.
The Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the Mass Transit Authority, is awaiting final approval. Report Says, these free transport services will be available in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, covering Metro Bus and Orange Line train routes.
A plan for this welfare program has been given to the Cabinet Committee on Finance, and it is expected to be approved in a meeting led by Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb.
Media Report added, Once approved, this initiative will play a crucial role in enhancing transport accessibility for vulnerable groups throughout Punjab.
