ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to conduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for the upcoming academic year on September 22, 2024.
In a meeting, the Council decided to hold the MDCAT for future medical students on the same date, both in Pakistan and overseas.
It also decided that the MDCAT syllabus will be uploaded on the PMDC website next week, and the registration portal will be opened for registrations.
To assist students, the Council decided not to alter the syllabus, so the MDCAT syllabus will remain unchanged and be the same as last year.
The council told all provincial secretaries to start getting ready for the MDCAT exam, saying that this decision is meant to help the students.
Last year, at least 180,534 students took the MDCAT exams. This year, it’s expected that around 200,000 students will sit for the exam. The difficulty level of the MDCAT paper will be adjusted to make it easier for students while still maintaining fairness, to ensure that exams run smoothly across all provinces.
PMDC President Prof. Rizwan Taj said that MDCAT-2024 will be a paper-based exam, conducted on a single day through provincial public admitting universities and supervised by PMDC.
He said that ensuring students’ bright future was our top priority, and the PMDC was working tirelessly to facilitate them.
Prof. Rizwan directed all universities conducting the exams to strictly adhere to guidelines and regulations to ensure fairness and transparency in the admission process.
Rizwan said that the Council knows how important the MDCAT is for students wanting to get into medical and dental colleges. Therefore, the PMDC will make sure everything is set up on time.
