ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ministry of Education plans to launch a solar energy project in schools throughout Islamabad.
According to the Education Ministry spokesperson, primary schools in Islamabad will be converted to solar power within the next two months.
He said the project to power schools with solar energy would be completed by the end of the year, adding that it aims to transition to sustainable and cost-efficient energy alternatives.
He added that the solar power project will not only lower electricity costs but also provide clean and sustainable energy sources for schools.
The solar panels will be installed on the roofs of designated schools, and the solar energy system is designed to meet the energy needs of schools.
The savings from this project will be used to improve educational facilities, according to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Education.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently declared that there will be no new tax on solar panels to help people access renewable solar energy.
At the federal cabinet meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said the federal government is working to make sure everyone in Pakistan can get affordable renewable solar energy.
