ISLAMABAD: Mohsin Naqvi, the Federal Minister for Interior Affairs and Narcotics Control, visited Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), at his Islamabad residence on Friday.
According to media reports, the interior minister asked about Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s well-being during the visit. Interior Minister Naqvi extended his good wishes to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, stating, “I pray for your well-being and safety.”
Mohsin Naqvi noted that he has maintained a respectful relationship with Maulana Fazlur Rehman for 25 years, characterized by mutual respect and honor.
Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the residence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the residence of a former ally to mend relations that had strained since the February 2024 general elections.
During the meeting, PM Sharif praised Fazlur Rehman’s efforts in safeguarding democracy in Pakistan and commended his contributions to religious services as well.
To reconcile relations, Shehbaz Sharif proposed the establishment of a committee. Fazlur Rehman had been alleging electoral fraud and calling for a new mandate.
