ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Friday a reduction in the electricity tariff by Rs 10.69 per unit for the industrial sector.
PM announced the reduction in electricity prices under the Prime Minister’s power package to improve the country industrial sector.
Following the reduction, the price of electricity for the industry and export sector has been set at Rs 34.99 per unit.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the burden of more than Rs 200 billion will be lifted from the industries. The package has been introduced to make the cost of goods competitive in the global market.
This package will lower the cost of production for industrial and agricultural products and significantly boost exports.
Earlier on June 6, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved an increase of Rs 3.3 per unit in the power tariff for consumers of power distribution companies (DISCOs), excluding K-Electric.
As Per Nepra, the tariff hike due to fuel charges adjustment (FCA) will apply to all consumer categories except Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and lifeline consumers.
