ISLAMABAD: The government and provinces are working together on the budget for the year 2024-25 while dealing with economic challenges and pressure from the IMF.

According to a Private Media Report, government employees might get a raise of 10-12 percent in their salary in the next budget. The final decision will be announced by the government, following advice from the finance ministry and lenders.

If approved, the increased salary will start from July 2024, aiming to reduce the impact of inflation on people.

Government employees at both federal and provincial levels are eagerly waiting for the budget announcement, as it might include salary and pension increases.

The government is actively trying to control inflation, with the goal of reducing it by 5–7 percent by 2025.

Recent data shows that inflation is going down, with headline inflation dropping from 23.1 percent in February to 20.7 percent year-on-year in March. Core inflation also went down from 18.1 percent in February to 15.7 percent in March.

Expected Increase in Salaries of Government Employees in Budget 2024-2025:

Governments are expected to announce a 10-12 percent increase in employee salaries in the upcoming budget for the year 2024-2025.

However, the governments will make the final decision after considering the proposals from the finance ministry. If the proposal is approved, the increase will take effect from July 2024.
