ISLAMABAD: Pakistan issued a stern warning to Iran after an incident in which Tehran breached Pakistan’s airspace, leading to the loss of two lives and injuries.

In a release on Wednesday, the Foreign Office strongly condemned the unprovoked violation of its airspace by Iran. The tragic incident resulted in the death of two innocent children and injuries to three girls.

Iranian state media claimed that the military action targeted the bases of a terrorist organization in Pakistan, utilizing drones and missiles to eliminate the group’s headquarters. The affected Pakistani area was identified as “Green Mountain” according to Iranian sources.

The violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty was deemed entirely unacceptable by the foreign office, anticipating serious consequences. The breach occurred despite existing communication channels between Pakistan and Iran.

A formal protest has been lodged with the relevant Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs official, and the Iranian Charge d’affaires has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a strong condemnation of the violation.

The spokesperson highlighted Pakistan’s consistent stance that terrorism poses a common threat to the region, necessitating coordinated action. Unilateral actions of this nature are viewed as incompatible with good neighborly relations and have the potential to erode bilateral trust and confidence.

In a separate development, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missile attacks in Syria and Iraq’s Kurdistan region, targeting alleged terrorist sites.

The strikes resulted in casualties, prompting the United States to condemn them as “reckless” and destabilizing.

In response, Iraq recalled its ambassador from Tehran for consultations, citing the recent Iranian attacks in Arbil. The situation remains tense, with diplomatic repercussions unfolding in the aftermath of these events.
