Establishment Division Approves Retirement Age Increase to 62 Years

ISLAMABAD: The Establishment Division has approved the proposal to raise the retirement age from 60 years to 62 years to temporarily relieve the burden of pension payments.

The Finance Ministry had sent a 3-point summary to the Establishment Division, in which the proposals to calculate the pension based on the pay drawn in the last three years of service and to cut the pension of early retirees by 3%, were approved by the Establishment Division.

The proposal to increase the retirement age of government employees from 60 years to 62 years was totally rejected while giving approval to temporarily avoid the burden of payments on the exchequer.

The Establishment Division has issued an office memorandum approving the proposal to extend the retirement period of government employees by 2 years.

The Ministry of Finance will send the summary to the Federal Cabinet for final approval after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Law and ECC on the OM of the Establishment Division.
