ISLAMABAD: The Water Management Wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has stepped up its efforts on various projects to alleviate water scarcity in the federal capital before the summer season begins.
According to an official statement, the authority has directed relevant departments to accelerate repair and maintenance work, focusing on issues such as leakages and the replacement of old and deteriorating pipes at the Simly Water Filtration Plant and Main Distribution Line.
The official mentioned that prompt repairs and maintenance by the Water Supply Wing have not only conserved eight lakh gallons of water per day but also enhanced water pressure in the pipelines.
Furthermore, addressing complaints regarding leaks from aged and degraded pipes in water supply lines across different sectors of the federal capital will enhance water availability for residents.
The official also noted that water levels in dams like Khanpur Dam have decreased due to insufficient rainfall in the federal capital.
Consequently, the Water Supply Department is working tirelessly to bridge the water shortage gap before the summer season, ensuring adequate water supply to citizens.
Responding to a query, the official stated that the authority plans to install four new tube wells in Sector F-10, F-11, G-10, and G-11 to further assist residents. This initiative aims to mitigate potential water shortages as reserves in Khanpur Dam decline.
The official mentioned that tenders have already been published in various newspapers to expedite measures aimed at controlling water shortages before the onset of the summer season.
