WhatsApp is in the process of developing a novel feature that enables users to subtly reference their preferred contacts in status updates.
Soon, individuals using the Meta-owned application will have the ability to discreetly mention others in their Status updates.
Upon being mentioned in a status update, a discreet alert is sent exclusively to the mentioned contact, ensuring prompt awareness of the mention.
It is crucial to underscore that this notification remains private; solely the mentioned contacts receive alerts, safeguarding their privacy as these mentions are inaccessible to other users.
According to WABetaInfo, “Allowing users to mention contacts in their status updates fosters a heightened sense of interaction within specific contacts. This mechanism ensures that significant updates or moments are promptly brought to the attention of the mentioned contacts, as notifications are directly dispatched to them.”
Moreover, as these mentions are private, they remain concealed within status updates, ensuring discretion and limiting their visibility solely to the intended recipients.
In parallel, WhatsApp’s swipeable Navigation Bar has been officially introduced.
For nearly a year, WhatsApp has been trialing an innovative menu bar style. This change, initially observed by beta testers, underscores the app’s commitment to adhering to Google’s Material Design guidelines, as per tech news sources.
