KARACHI: The Sindh government has issued a revised schedule for school and college timings during Ramadan 2024, starting from the sighting of the moon this evening.
According to a notification from the Sindh Education Department, schools across the province operating in the morning shift will now be open from 7:30 am to 11:30 am, while the afternoon shift will run from 11:45 am to 2:45 pm.
On Fridays during Ramadan, the morning shift will be from 7:30 am to 10:30 am and 10:45 am to 1:15 pm.
Similarly, a separate notification for revised timings for all Sindh colleges has been issued. Morning shift classes will be held from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm, and evening shift classes will take place from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
Muslims in the country will mark their first Roza (fast) tomorrow (Tuesday) following the sighting of the Ramadan moon on Monday evening in Pakistan.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, officially announced the moon sighting after a meeting in Peshawar, attended by clerics from various schools of thought to determine the start of the ninth Islamic month.
Ramadan, a month of religious devotion and fasting, will witness millions of Pakistanis fasting from dawn till sunset, with fasting durations ranging from 12 to 17 hours depending on geographical locations worldwide. Over a billion believers globally will observe Ramadan, practicing patience, self-control, and emphasizing charity and welfare.
