WASHINGTON: The United States expressed its anticipation for collaborating with the interim government led by Anwaar-ul-Haq, a tenure that will shepherd the nation towards an impending election.

In a press briefing, State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel conveyed, “Our eagerness is directed towards cooperating with the interim prime minister and his contingent as they make arrangements for the upcoming elections.”

The deputy spokesperson acknowledged the United States’ cognizance of the disbandment of the allied government and the designation of Kakar as the caretaker prime minister.

“Our commitment to partnering with Pakistan remains unwavering, encompassing areas of shared concern, such as the country’s economic steadfastness, prosperity, security, the facilitation of impartial elections, and the preservation of democratic principles and the rule of law.”

Both factions of the political spectrum – the former administration and the opposition – extended their endorsement of the appointment and expressed optimism that the interim prime minister would ensure equitable and unprejudiced elections within the nation.

As Kakar takes the reins of a nation plagued by months of political and economic tumult, his foremost responsibility is to curate a cabinet to administer the country during the extended period of election procedures.

In consonance with the constitution, the parliament was officially dissolved the previous week, with the elections slated within a span of 90 days.

However, the most recent census data was disclosed earlier this month, prompting the outgoing administration to stipulate that the election commission needed additional time for the revision of constituency delineations.

Amid a confluence of security, economic, and political predicaments, speculations have persisted for several months regarding a potential postponement of the electoral process.
