PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has taken another major step for public welfare by adding more treatments to the Sehat Card Plus program.
According to KP Government Spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, free treatment for four serious diseases has now been included in the health card scheme. These include liver, kidney, and bone marrow transplants, as well as the installation of hearing devices.
Barrister Saif also said that Out-Patient Department (OPD) services will soon start as a pilot project in Mardan.
He added that the Sehat Card Plus is currently providing free health services to 10.6 million families across the province. Since the launch of the program in 2016, more than 4.2 million people have received free medical treatment. A total of Rs. 108 billion has been spent so far to improve public healthcare.
The government spokesperson further said that KP citizens can get free treatment in 753 hospitals across the country that are on the panel.

In a related development, KP Minister for Labour Haji Fazal Shakoor Khan officially inaugurated the new Psychiatric and Post-Mortem Wards at the District Headquarters Hospital in Charsadda . During the visit, the provincial minister inspected different hospital wards and spoke with patients and their attendants about the quality of services and staff behavior.
He was given a detailed briefing about hospital management, the new wards, and the available medical facilities. The minister instructed the hospital administration to ensure that all government-provided facilities are fully available to the public.
He said that being a doctor is a noble profession, and the KP government is serious about improving healthcare services in the province. He added that the new Psychiatric and Post-Mortem Wards will enhance the hospital’s capacity to serve patients.

Minister Shakoor also said that his goal is to make sure people in Charsadda get the same facilities available in big hospitals so they don’t have to travel to other cities for treatment. He emphasized that providing medical services is one of the top priorities of the KP government.
He further noted that the PTI government introduced the Sehat Card to give the people of KP a major health benefit. The minister also attended a ceremony at the hospital in connection with International Nurses Day and addressed the gathering as the chief guest.
