Ali Tareen, the current owner of Multan Sultans, has said that he will not buy the franchise again at an increased price. Speaking in a local podcast, Tareen explained that while he is interested in keeping the team, he would only do so if the price is reasonable.

He said he will take part in the bidding process when the time comes, but he does not want to face financial losses. “I know the real value of the team,” Tareen said. “Even the previous owners left due to big losses. How much loss should I bear?”

Tareen said that Multan Sultans is equal in worth to Karachi Kings and should be priced the same. He added that he would only consider buying the team again if it can be done within a fair price range.

Reflecting on the team’s journey, Tareen shared that Multan is their home ground and has always been a source of strength. “When we lost three matches, I told the players not to worry. We’re going back home, and no one can beat us there,” he said. He added that a true champion team is one that performs in tough situations, and he believes Multan Sultans will not only bounce back but also win the title.

Tareen also said the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has not reached its full potential and that he has worked hard to support its growth. He urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play a stronger role. According to him, Multan Sultans is not just backed by the city of Multan but the entire South Punjab region.

Earlier, Tareen had criticized the PSL franchise model, saying owners do not have full ownership rights. He said franchises are essentially rented every year, and if the payment is not made, the rights are taken away. He also noted that, unlike the Indian Premier League (IPL), the PSL does not yet offer opportunities for foreign investment.
