ISLAMABAD: Amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, Pakistan has started evacuating families of its diplomatic staff from Iran as a precautionary measure, Foreign Office sources confirmed.
According to the sources, non-essential staff are also being called back from Iran. However, the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran will continue to operate as usual, and consulates in other Iranian cities will remain functional.
The evacuation is being carried out purely for safety reasons, the officials added.
Meanwhile, 350 more Pakistanis, including 45 students, arrived in Taftan from Iran on Monday. Most of the returnees were pilgrims.
