It is worth mentioning that a shopkeeper was killed during a robbery in Korangi Mehran Town yesterday when he resisted the robbers. The victim’s family said the same gang had stolen Rs70,000 just 15 days earlier. Residents of Korangi Industrial Area also staged a protest against street crimes.

On the other news, the Sindh Assembly has passed the “Universities Amendment Bill” with a majority vote. This law allows the appointment of bureaucrats as vice-chancellors in universities.

Opposition members strongly protested, chanted slogans in front of the speaker’s dais, and tore copies of the bill.

According to the bill, an MA-qualified bureaucrat can be appointed as a vice-chancellor. The appointment will be made from three names recommended by a search committee.
