KARACHI: The superintendent of Government College for Women in Nazimabad, Karachi, Mohammad Nafees, fled after collecting Rs 9 lakh 10 thousand from students as exam fees.
The college principal filed a complaint at Rizvia Society Police Station. According to the complainant, Shehla Basheer, a Grade 20 professor and the college principal, she was informed by staff three days ago that students were coming to collect their admit cards, but the cards had not been issued.
The superintendent, Muhammad Nafees, a Grade 17 officer, was responsible for issuing the cards. It was discovered that he had collected Rs 910,200 in cash from about 81 students as exam fees but did not deposit the money in the bank.
In October 2024, the college had put up a notice advising students and parents not to pay cash to any staff member and to obtain bank vouchers instead.

Shehla Basheer stated that more complaints from students have been received, revealing that Muhammad Nafees last came to the college on January 25.
Since then, he has been absent. She alleged that he misappropriated the collected exam fees and requested legal action against him.
Police have registered a case and launched raids to find the superintendent. They assured that he would be arrested soon.
Shehla Raza has said that the admit cards of all the affected female students have been issued, while the admit cards for some female students will be given soon.
