BCB announces BPL 2025 schedule, venues, match timetable

DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced the schedule for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025. Full schedule and key details for the 11th edition are here:

Holders Fortune Barishal will kick off the tournament on December 30, 2024, facing Durbar Rajshahi in the opening match. The final of the tournament will take place on February 7, 2025, capping off a month of intense cricket.

BPL 2025, which will see a change in how the tournament is structured this year. The tournament will be hosted in three cities: Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet, with all the knockout matches, including the final, being played in Dhaka.

The group stage will consist of four phases, with each of the seven participating teams playing a total of 12 matches. The top four teams at the end of the group phase will advance to the knockout stage, culminating in the final on February 7, 2025.

Key Dates for the BPL 2025:

  • Start Date: 30 December 2024 – Opening match between Fortune Barishal and Durbar Rajshahi.
  • End Date: 7 February 2025 – Final match.
  • Group Stage: Divided into four phases in three cities (Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet).
  • Knockouts: All knockout matches, including eliminators and qualifiers, will be played in Dhaka.

Tournament Phases:

  • Phase 1 (Dhaka):
    • Dates: 30 December 2024 – 3 January 2025
    • Rest Day: 1 January 2025
  • Phase 2 (Sylhet):
    • Dates: 6 January 2025 – 13 January 2025
  • Phase 3 (Chattogram):
    • Dates: 16 January 2025 – 23 January 2025
  • Phase 4 (Dhaka):
    • Dates: 26 January 2025 – 1 February 2025

Knockout Stage:

  • Eliminator: 3 February 2025 (Day match)
  • First Qualifier: 3 February 2025 (Night match)
  • Second Qualifier: 5 February 2025
  • Final: 7 February 2025
  • Reserve Days: Each knockout match, including the final, will have a designated reserve day.

Match Timings:

  • Weekday Day Matches: 1:30 PM
  • Weekday Night Matches: 6:30 PM
  • Fridays:
    • Day Matches: 2:00 PM
    • Night Matches: 7:00 PM

BPL 2025 to Feature Enhanced Technology

In a significant development, Hawkeye and DRS (Decision Review System) technology will be incorporated into the BPL 2025.

This year, the BCB promises an improved digital production for a more comprehensive viewing experience, especially for audiences watching from home.

BCB President Faruque Ahmed confirmed that this would enhance the quality of decision-making on the field, addressing previous concerns about the accuracy and reliability of these systems.
