ISLAMABAD – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, announced the appointment of night patrolling officers (NPOs) throughout the district to enhance the patrol system and tackle street crime. “Our mission is to honor and safeguard the inhabitants of the federal capital,” he remarked during a high-level meeting with the Operations Division officers.
The meeting was attended by DIG Operations Islamabad Syed Shehzad Nadim Bukhari, SSP Operations Malik Jamil Zafar, other SSPs, divisional SPs, SDPOs, and all SHOs. IGP Rizvi emphasized that police officers must conduct their duties with compassion. He warned that officers disinterested in their duties would be removed from service.
He expressed, “Each one of you is invaluable to me, and I take pride in my officers. Together, we are committed to serving the public around the clock and eradicating crime.” He also encouraged officers to bravely serve in areas where officers have been martyred.
Additionally, he assured that the DIG Operations and SSP Operations are available for guidance. The IGP instructed officers to honor their commitment to the uniform and to the public.
He also ordered the transformation of all police stations into special initiative stations and initiated a seven-day campaign to suppress crime.
The focus will be on dismantling criminal networks, intensifying the fight against drug trafficking, and launching a campaign against professional begging. He concluded the meeting by stating that corruption will not be tolerated and that he will remain accessible to the public.
Furthermore, the IGP held discussions with the DIG Operations, AIG Operations, SSP Operations, and SP CTD at the Central Police Office in Islamabad. He urged the swift advancement of Islamabad Police’s ongoing projects and the optimal use of resources for the welfare and safety of the public.
He called for the prompt resolution of citizens’ complaints at police stations and for respectful interactions with visitors. Protecting the dignity and security of citizens’ lives and property is the foremost priority for the Islamabad Capital Police.
The IGP also mandated the timely completion of the Capital Police Hospital to provide medical services to police personnel, their families, and Islamabad residents.
Additionally, the IGP issued directives to support the families of martyred officers. In a separate event, the IGP visited the Security Division, receiving updates on diplomatic protocols and security matters.
He stressed the importance of enhancing interagency collaboration and community policing. He directed the acceleration of development and welfare activities within the Security Division, emphasizing the safeguarding of dignitaries and state institutions.
The IGP also mentioned the activation of the Special Protection Unit, the implementation of psychological profiling in the Security Division, and addressing personnel shortages.
He instructed senior officers to thoroughly review and improve security systems. During his earlier visits to various checkpoints in the capital, IGP Rizvi met with officers and officials, advising them to wear protective gear and maintain courteous interactions with the public during checks.
