Ministry of Defence Pushes for Civil Service Quota for War-Injured Officers

The Ministry of Defence has appealed for a quota within the civil service for officers who have been injured and disabled in the fight against terrorism.

This proposed quota would be separate from the existing 10 percent quota designated for armed forces officers in the civil service, administered through the Federal Public Service Commission.

The Ministry of Defence communicated this request for an additional quota in a letter addressed to the Establishment Division. The letter referenced a previous correspondence dated March 29, 2023, which had urged the inclusion of injured military officers into either the Commerce and Trade Group or the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service.

In its letter, the Ministry of Defence highlighted that over the past two decades, numerous young officers from across the country have sustained physical disabilities during the anti-terrorism operations.

These officers, due to their physical limitations, are unable to fulfill their roles within the military to their full capacity. Moreover, their medical conditions prevent their inclusion even within the existing 10 percent quota.

The Establishment Division has been urged once again to consider the incorporation of officers disabled in war into various professional service groups, including the Security Group, particularly for placement within the Ministry of Defence.
