ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) issued a show-cause notice to Sher Afzal Marwat, a party leader, on Saturday regarding his comments concerning senior party figure Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
Marwat has been directed to provide an apology for his statements within two days, failing which appropriate action will be taken in accordance with party protocols, as stated in the notice.
The party expressed concern over the tense situation caused by Marwat’s remarks, as mentioned in their official statement.
Earlier, Marwat had asserted that Barrister Gohar Khan was ousted as the chairman of the party due to perceived underperformance, a statement made one day after Gohar announced Barrister Ali Zafar as the PTI’s nominee for the next chairman. The party’s internal elections are set for March 3.
In an interview with a private TV channel, Marwat criticized Gohar’s performance, citing incompetence and inadequacy as reasons for his removal. While acknowledging Gohar’s character, Marwat expressed dissatisfaction with his effectiveness in the role.
Marwat further elaborated that Gohar’s failure to meet the expectations of the party workers, coupled with what he perceived as a lackluster approach by the party leadership post-elections, contributed to his stance.
Marwat emphasized the necessity for consistent activity in managing party affairs, a standard he felt Gohar did not uphold.
Overall, Marwat conveyed disappointment with Gohar’s leadership following the elections, indicating his belief that Gohar should have demonstrated stronger leadership during that period.
