LAHORE: The PMLN and the PPP have reportedly agreed to establish a coalition government in both the Centre and Punjab. This development came to light following a meeting between PMLN leader Shehbaz Sharif and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, along with former president Asif Ali Zardari, during which they were invited to collaborate for the betterment of Pakistan.
The gathering took place at the residence of Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where Shehbaz engaged in discussions regarding the formation of the future government with Zardari. Shehbaz also conveyed a message from Nawaz Sharif during the meeting. He urged the PPP leaders to engage in dialogue with PMLN leadership to ensure political and economic stability in the country.
Sources indicate that Shehbaz and Zardari reached an understanding to form a government both in Punjab and at the center. Both parties are set to present their respective perspectives in the upcoming meeting to finalize matters concerning power-sharing arrangements. The duration of the meeting was approximately 45 minutes.
Earlier, PMLN leader and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had extended invitations to all political parties to come together to form a coalition government aimed at steering the country out of its current challenges.
In a gathering of party workers in Model Town, Nawaz Sharif asserted the PMLN’s position as the leading party in the elections. Alongside Shehbaz Sharif and PMLN Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz, he emphasized the importance of unity among all parties to address the nation’s issues collectively.
Nawaz highlighted the imperative for political stability in Pakistan, stressing that it requires a collaborative effort from all stakeholders. He announced the initiation of discussions for a coalition government in light of the absence of a simple majority, tasking Shehbaz Sharif with engaging with key political figures for this purpose.
Expressing gratitude to the party workers for their support, Nawaz underscored the need for affordable utilities and enhanced healthcare services for the populace. He called for a unified approach from politicians, the parliament, armed forces, and the media to ensure Pakistan’s progress and stability.
Addressing the newly elected representatives, Nawaz urged them to prioritize public service and consider politics as a form of worship. He emphasized the PMLN’s commitment to serving all segments of society, promising initiatives such as free medicines in hospitals and continued support for youth empowerment.
Subsequently, Shehbaz Sharif echoed Nawaz’s sentiments in a brief address, reiterating the party’s dedication to overcoming the prevailing challenges faced by the nation.
