ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has awarded a Senate ticket to Talal Chaudhry.
Chaudhry, a close aide to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was given the ticket for a general seat from Punjab. In a statement, Chaudhry expressed his gratitude to Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
“I am also extremely grateful to my party,” he said. “I will try to live up to this trust with my loyalty and performance.”
Chaudhry said that the Senate ticket was a tribute to the workers who had stood by the party and its leadership in difficult times. “This ticket is for Jaranwala,” he said. “This ticket is for the love of Nawaz Sharif.”
The deadline for submitting nomination papers for the Senate elections, which are scheduled to be held on April 2, is today.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed by March 19, while appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed on March 21. The Election Tribunal will decide on the appeals by March 25.
