The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, held a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Army Chief, General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al Ruwaili, on Friday to engage in discussions pertaining to various areas of mutual concern.

According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Ruwaili and his high-ranking military delegation paid a visit to General Munir. The military’s media affairs wing stated, “During the meeting, both parties engaged in discussions on various aspects of mutual interest, encompassing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the realms of defense and security matters.”

The statement further noted that the delegation also had a meeting with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, at the Joint Staff Headquarters earlier in the day.

The visit of the Saudi delegation to Pakistan occurred shortly after COAS Munir had informed the business community about Saudi Arabia’s decision to invest $25 billion in Pakistan under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). This initiative aims to attract investments in the agricultural sector by offering land and ensuring exports.

Earlier in the year, General Munir had visited Madina, where he met with the Saudi Crown Prince to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations. During the visit, General Munir also had a meeting with Saudi Defence Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, to explore avenues for bolstering cooperation between the two countries. The leaders engaged in discussions on military and defense collaboration and explored means to support and strengthen these efforts, along with addressing important regional and international issues of shared interest.
