PPP Suspends Latif Khosa’s Membership over Party Policy Violations

The Pakistan People’s Party has expelled the disgruntled leader, Sardar Latif Khosa, from the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) and suspended his party membership.

The Secretary-General of the People’s Party, Nair Bukhari, confirmed this development to the private media.

He stated that this decision was made because Sardar Latif Khosa failed to respond to the show-cause notice issued by the party last week.

It may be recalled that on September 14, a show-cause notice was issued to Latif Khosa. In the notice, it was mentioned that despite being a member of the Central Executive Committee, he was defending the head of another party in a corruption case without the party’s permission. Furthermore, he has been convicted and is also defending him in a case registered under the Official Secrets Act.

Although no one was named in the letter, it was clearly a reference to PTI chairman Imran Khan, who was arrested last month in the Tosha Khana case. Latif Khosa has represented Imran Khan in several cases filed against the PTI chief.

The former prime minister is also facing a case under the Official Secrets Act, which is related to a diplomatic document that allegedly disappeared from Imran Khan’s possession.

In the notice issued by the People’s Party to Latif Khosa, he was asked to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for a “violation of party policy.”

The notice stated that he must respond to the show-cause notice within seven days, failing which his party membership will be terminated.

Previously, a show-cause notice was also issued to Latif Khosa for making a statement in favor of Chairman PTI.
