LAHORE: To control overpricing and make shopping easier for citizens, the government has decided to set up Sahulat On-the-Go markets in 15 underdeveloped areas of the city. The planning and preparation work for these mobile markets has been completed.
According to the spokesperson for Sahulat Bazaars, these markets will become operational within 15 days. A total of 871 stalls will be set up across all 15 locations. These will be drive-through style markets, the first of their kind in the region.
The aim of these bazaars is to provide quality goods at official prices. The markets will feature state-of-the-art tensile fabric shades, and shopkeepers will be given free electricity. For shoppers, parking, drinking water, and frozen home delivery services will be available.
The markets will be set up in the following areas:
-
Multan Road, Hanjarwal, Manga Mandi, and Raiwind
-
G1 Market Mustafa Town, Faisal Town, Moon Market, Bedian Road, and Madar-e-Millat
-
Gulshan Ravi, Shahdara, Shadman, Singhpura, and Kahna
This development comes as part of the government’s wider effort to improve public services and market facilities. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the country’s largest model cattle market in Shahpur Kanjran.

For the first time, fans have been installed in animal sheds, and 20 large sheds have been constructed. A quarantine center has also been set up to protect animals from diseases. Additionally, 20 residential rooms have been provided for traders.
Other facilities include a mosque, washrooms, veterinary clinic, tuck shop, bank, and ATM. For better transport, there are also loading/unloading bays and a truck center.
The Chief Minister also distributed shields to those who showed outstanding performance on the project.
