Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz chaired a special high-level meeting on traffic system improvement, where strict actions were approved against traffic rule violations.
As per the details, It was decided that traffic fines will be increased up to 10 times. Parents will face legal action if underage children are caught driving.
The Chief Minister ordered immediate action against vehicles carrying iron rods in a dangerous way and said such vehicles should be taken off the roads. Strict action will also be taken against one-wheeling and dangerous driving.
The meeting also ordered removal of traffic blockages from Bedian Road and other important highways. Plans were discussed to remodel 372 points across Punjab and 77 in Lahore to improve traffic flow.
The CM directed that every e-challan must include photo or video proof. Digital screens will be installed on roadsides to alert drivers about traffic jams in advance. Heavy fines will be imposed for using mobile phones while driving and for driving with faulty or off headlights.
The meeting also discussed changing traffic police uniforms and dividing them into five categories. Traffic wardens will be allowed to issue challans with camera evidence for transparency.

CM Maryam Nawaz also approved providing traffic police with modern patrol vehicles and latest equipment. She said traffic improvement is not yet visible and serious, long-term measures are needed. “Preventing accidents before they happen is real success,” she added, saying she personally visits roads to check the traffic situation.
It should be noted that the most important decision made in the meeting was that fines for violating the rules would be increased by up to 10 times, while cases would be registered against parents for allowing underage children to drive.
Punjab Govt Ends Birth, Death Registration Fees Across Province:
On the other hand, the Punjab government has ended all fees for birth and death registrations under the new 2025 rules.
According to a government spokesperson, registration will now be free of cost across the province. On CM Maryam Nawaz’s instructions, computerized birth and death certificates will also be issued without any charges.
Maryam Nawaz said that identity is a basic right of every citizen and the government wants to make services easier for the public. She said digital certificates are now necessary to get government services, and citizens can register births and deaths free of charge for up to 7 years at union councils and municipal committees.
The condition of getting a court order for late registrations has also been removed. Citizens can now register on time and protect their legal rights.
