LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s son, Junaid Safdar, has gotten engaged. According to a Private Tv channel report, the engagement has been arranged with a girl from the Sharif family’s close relatives. The bride-to-be’s family lives in Lahore.
The engagement discussions reportedly began about a month ago. Family members from both sides were involved in the process, and sources say the couple may tie the knot later this year, though no official wedding date has been announced yet.
Junaid Safdar is the grandson of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and holds a strong public presence due to his political family background. He studied abroad and completed higher education from the United Kingdom, including degrees from institutions such as University College London (UCL) and the University of Cambridge.
This will be Junaid’s second marriage. He was previously married to Ayesha Saif, the daughter of former NAB chairman Saifur Rehman, in a grand ceremony held in London in August 2021. Their marriage, however, ended in October 2023. Junaid confirmed the divorce through a post on his Instagram account, calling it a private matter and urging the media to respect their privacy.
According to a source close to the Sharif family, the family has not denied the news of Junaid Safdar’s engagement. However, the identity of the girl and her family is not being disclosed at the moment.
