ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved K-Electric’s request to receive equity returns in US dollars, despite opposition from the federal government and other stakeholders.
This approval is part of the Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) for the period 2024 to 2030, covering K-Electric’s transmission and distribution business.
According to the decision, NEPRA has allowed K-Electric an average distribution tariff of Rs 3.31 per unit.
NEPRA also issued final decisions on K-Electric’s distribution and transmission tariffs.

Under the new tariff, K-Electric has been granted a 14% return on equity in dollars for its distribution business.
For the transmission business, NEPRA has allowed a 12% return on equity, also in dollars.
